Deal met Sony Pictures Classic getekend voor “The diary of a Teenage girl“ na unaniem lovende kritieken op Sundance Film Festival
Sony Pictures Classic heeft met Caviar een wereldwijde distributiedeal (met uitzondering van Europa) gesloten voor “The diary of a Teenage Girl” van Marielle Heller. De deal betekent dat de film een grote internationale release zal krijgen, in zowel Noord- als Zuid – Amerika, Azië en Australië. Europa zal vermoedelijk snel volgen. De deal werd beklonken tijdens het recente Sundance Film Festival, waar de Amerikaanse en international pers unaniem lovend was over de film. Het regiedebuut van Marielle Heller omarmde eenieders hart. Zo noemde The Hollywood Reporter “The Diary of a teenage girl” : ‘de film waar iedereen voor bidt dat hij aanwezig zal zijn op Sundance’, en Indiewire ‘Shokerend maar oprecht, schrijnend maar hilarisch’.
Het Sundance Filmfestival is de eerste kick-off in de carrière van de film. Op zaterdag 7 februari vindt in Berlijn de Europese première plaats van “The diary of a Teenage Girl”. Eerder werd aangekondigd dat Hellers regiedebuut geselecteerd was in de Generation 14+ competitie van het Filmfestival van Berlijn.

De hoofdrollen worden vertolkt door Bel Powley, Kristen Wiig (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Bridesmaids) en Alexander Skarsgard (Melancholia, True Blood). “The Diary of a Teenage Girl” vertelt het innemende verhaal van een vroegrijp en artistiek tienermeisje, dat een relatie begint met haar moeders vriend, in de jaren 70 in San Francisco en is gebaseerd op de populaire graphic novel van Phoebe Gloeckner.
“The Diary of a Teenage Girl” is Caviar's eerste in de US ontwikkelde en geproduceerde film. De postproductie met een uitzonderlijke mengeling van live action en animatie, vond volledig plaats in Brussel.
