Laura Mvula is helemaal terug met nieuwe muziek na vijf jaar stilte. De Ivor Novello-winnaar en Mercury Prize en BRIT Award-genomineerde Mvula tekende zopas bij Atlantic Records en brengt naast haar nieuwe single 'Safe Passage' ook een nieuwe EP uit.
Mvula gaat een hele nieuwe richting uit met haar muziek die nu heel dynamisch en kosmisch klinkt, geïnspireerd door eighties synth pop. Ze deelde onlangs haar nieuwe track 'Safe Passage’; een eerste voorsmaakje van wat ze zal uitbrengen in 2021. De videoclip van 'Safe Passage' werd eind februari opgenomen tijdens haar speciale eenmalige livestream 'Under A Pink Moon', meteen het eerste concert in 3 jaar waarmee ze dit spannende, nieuwe hoofdstuk van haar muzikale reis aan haar fans voorstelde.

We’re already in what feels like some kind of global claustrophobia – we’re locked in and we need to come out and we need to break out. That’s what this music is to me and I just want to share it. Op de 1/F-EP staan ‘Sing To The Moon’, ‘Show Me Love’ en ‘Green Garden’, evenals een nieuwe interpretatie van de klassieker ‘I'm Still Waiting’ van Diana Ross.
Laura over de EP:
“I was against re-interpreting old songs in the beginning because the songs from Sing to the Moon and The Dreaming Room are very sacred to me and to lots of people who have adopted those songs as their own spiritual anthems. But I actually found new energy and life in those songs by putting them through the filter of my current sonic season, which feels a lot more direct than where I've been in the past. A lot more brazen, a lot more fearless. I'm an advocate for risk taking, and so it was amazing to be able to take those songs into that space with me.”
