Venom is one of those rare bands that still capture the imagination anno 2015. In the early eighties this British gang from Newcastle made a series of albums – ‘Welcome To Hell’ (1981), ‘Black Metal’ (1982) and ‘At War With Satan’ (1984) – which really shocked and changed the whole metal scene. There are probably no black metal bands who has not been influenced by Venom. Venom used to have the reputation of being just about the meanest, most evil and roughest band in the world.
Death (Dta) confirmed for Alcatraz
Death guitarist Chuck Schuldiner is generally considered as the musician who put the death metal genre on the map. The brutal music and especially Chuck’s deep grunts were exceptional in the eighties, and encouraged hundreds of bands to try it in turn. Albums like ‘Scream Bloody Gore’ (1987) and ‘Leprosy’ (1988) are true classics in the genre and will undoubtedly inspire many generations in the future. With ‘Human’ (1991), ‘Individual Thought Patterns’ (1993), ‘Symbolic’ (1995) and ‘The Sound Of Perseverance’ (1998) Death delivered technically almost eerily perfect albums where the songs remained and demanded their spot.
Moonspell - welcome back!
Alcatraz is pleased to announce that Moonspell will join the festivall bill once again. Probably the most well known Portugese (metal)band played our festival also 5 year ago and we still remember their remarkable concert. Earlier this year the concept album ‘Extinct’ was released and it tells us everything about extinction, transience and decay in every way. A prestigious video project was subjoined where the creative process connects the transience of life into an unprecedented approach in the metal sector. This way Moonspell still remains relevant and innovative after all these years. The only constant is that each live show is intense and we are expecting nothing less on Alcatraz Festival.
