Remy van Kesteren releases his new EP ‘Places I may have visited, people I may have met Pt. 1’

The EP is the first of a series of four EP’s, which show how Remy experienced this past year and a half musically

Dutch Harpist Remy van Kesteren releases his EP ‘Places I may have visited, people I may have met Pt. 1’ today. ‘Anywhere but here’ is the final of the four songs that are on the EP, of which the first three singles have already been released in the past weeks.
The project 'Places I may have visited, people I may have met' is a document of a confusing time when the inner world was often more inviting than the outside world. It will eventually be a series of four EP’s, so after this first one there’s even more to follow. You can listen to the first EP now, it’s available online everywhere.

Harpist Remy van Kesteren is known for creating his own world with his compositions; a blend of neo-classical minimal, electronic music, alternative, jazz- and world influences, where the boundaries between genres evaporate. He studied at, among others, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he studied with the famous harpist Isabelle Moretti. Van Kesteren has won various prizes, including the Nederlandse Muziekprijs. His many awards led to concerts around the world, from Europe to the US, Japan and Africa.

Remy van Kesteren about his new EP: “Traveling and especially the unexpected encounters that accompany it are perhaps the greatest source of inspiration for my music. Precisely those elements of life had all but disappeared in the past year and a half. But music always finds a way. If it doesn't come in from the outside, then it comes out from the inside. I started writing miniatures in my studio from the night before the first lockdown, using my imagination and memories. I imagined a place, imagined a conversation, made up a meeting, saw a square full of people or a vast coast. Sometimes it led to an improvisation, sometimes to a loop, then again a complete composition was created. With 'Places I may have visited, people I may have met' I show how I experienced this year and a half musically in a series of four EPs. A document of a confusing time when the inner world was often more inviting than the outside world.”

New EP ‘Places I may have visited, people I may have met Pt. 1’ by Remy van Kesteren is available now on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer and Bandcamp.
