Legendary party band Madness will set the Grote Markt of Tienen on fire on Saturday 2 August, with an exclusive Belgian show!

The 7 "Nutty Boys" Suggs, Chas, Barso, El Thommo, Chrissy Boy, Bedders and Woody have strung together an impressive number of hits since 1979. Their unique ska meets pop is the recipe of success for classics such as "Nightboat to Cairo", "One Scooter Beyond", "Baggy Trousers", "Embarrassment", "My girl", "It Must Be Love" and "Our House". Together with bands such as The Selecter, The Specials and Bad Manners they were responsible for the British ska revival in the early eighties.  The name Madness was derived from the song of black musician Prince Buster. In fact their first single 'The Prince' paid homage to this ska-pioneer.

The Madness craze reached a high point in 1992 when the band organised its own "Madstock" festival to which as many as 75,000 fans showed up! They never stopped, but particularly on the European continent things quietened down around the combo in the nineties. Until they hit the road again in 2005 with a cover album. In style and with unseen energy they toured all major European concert halls. 2012 was a new high point in Madness history: during the celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond jubilee, the group played the very appropriate "Our House" on the roof of Buckingham Palace! And they performed the same song during the London Olympics' spectacular final show. That autumn their tenth studio album "Oui Oui Si Si Ja Ja Da Da" came out. It is reminiscent of the best of the late Ian Dury, but it is covered with that recognisable Madness sound.

Or to say it with the words of their big example Prince Buster: "Don't watch that, watch this": Madness is bringing their 'Heavy heavy monster sound' to Win for Life Suikerrock, on Saturday 2 August! Welcome to the House of Fun!

The 28th Win for Life Suikerrock takes place on Friday 1, Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 August 2014 in the centre of Tienen.
