With ‘Magazine,’ Douglas Firs releases the latest single from 'Happy Pt. 2,' the new album set to come out on August 30th. Following well-received singles ‘Lazy Heart’ and ‘Back To That Day,’ this completes the trilogy serving as a teaser for the album.

"It took me 10 years to write the first song about my girlfriend," Gertjan Van Hellemont said with the previous single. Well, here's the second one right away: "My God, look at you / You’ve got the prettiest face that I have ever seen / You could be in every magazine / But here you are / And we’re alright."

And it's a good thing because besides a new album for Douglas Firs, Van Hellemont is also expecting twins in early July. Two babies and an album in one summer: who could do better? 'Magazine' certainly builds anticipation for that new record, with a sound that wasn't immediately present on the vulnerable and intimate precursor 'Heart of a Mother.'

Hope and energy are heard once again. You can hear mixing wizard Kevin Ratterman (My Morning Jacket, Ray Lamontagne) fully in his element in L.A., with a mysterious bridge that sounds like it was recorded on Mars. Also new: the saxophone by Wietse Meys and pedal steel by Bart Vervaeck, who will be heard much more on the album (and live shows). There's exuberance again, joy for life, zest. Zest for life, zest for the future, zest for summer when the new Douglas Firs album comes out. Happy Pt. 2!

Kevin Ratterman (Strand of Oaks, Ray Lamontagne) mixed the song in L.A.
Fred Kevorkian (Joan As Police Woman, The National) mastered it in New York.
