It's been two years already since Douglas Firs last released new music. The vulnerable album 'Heart Of The Mother' shot straight through the heart of the listener with a collection of deeply personal songs. The record was an ode to two mothers: his own mother, who passed away after a fight with cancer, and his girlfriend, who in that same period gave birth to their son.

What kind of album...

It's a very busy year for Douglas Firs. A few months ago they released their critically acclaimed third album Hinges of Luck, and since then frontman Gertjan Van Hellemont was virtually non-stop on the road. With his friends and top musicians who complete Douglas Firs: Simon Casier (Balthazar), Laurens Billiet and big brother Sem. Or with that other band: The Bony King of Nowhere.

Gertjan boards a plane to Montréal, Canada, where he will stay for two months. On his own. In Belgium there were too many people and not enough time to slip away. Too many questions and not enough space. There is no travel plan, just a guitar, a small recording device and the intention to see what happens.
