Liverpool-based alternative art rock trio SPQR are pleased to announce that their second EP, Low Sun Long Shadows, will be released on 26th April 2019 via Modern Sky UK.

Following a play for their most recent single on the BBC Radio One Rock Show from Daniel P Carter at the weekend, the trio have revealed the video for their crushing self-doubt anthem ‘Our Mother’s Sons’, which is out now.

Commenting on the video, the band said: “The video was shot in our rehearsal studio, by our very dear friend Thomas Sumner. Pete (Harrison, vocals) came up with the original idea of the spinning shot because he wanted to create a disorientating effect, and it all evolved from there. Thomas filmed, directed and edited it all—we just did some silly dancing.”

The band have also confirmed that they will be playing at the BBC 6music Fringe Festival in Liverpool later this month, as well as appearing at Blue Dot Festival in the summer. The new dates come in addition to their already scheduled slot at Liverpool Sound City Festival.

The trio’s previous singles ‘Blood Pump’ and ‘Slowly’ were added to Spotify’s Alt. Rocked., New Music Friday, All New Indie, New Indie & Alt, and The Punk List playlists, receiving further support from The Line of Best Fit, CLASH, The Quietus, Discovered Magazine, BBC Radio One, BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio and more.

Produced by Margo Broom at Hermitage Works Studios (Fat White Family, Goat Girl, Dead Pretties & more) the EP is the latest material from the band since stand-alone single ‘Blood Pump’ released in 2018, following their 2017 EP, The House That Doubt Built.
