You Light Me Up was written around the Fourth of July. I wanted to create scenes with brightness to them - visuals tracing back to this theme of being "lit up". It is a love song, but an honest one, one which doesn't run from the idea that relationships have their rough edges. Sometimes the rough edges are a part of the larger, colorful tapestry of a relationship you can't get enough of.

About Kira:

Kira Velella is a singer-songwriter from Long Island, NY. She has been writing and performing for audiences around the country since she was 17, and is influenced by artists widely ranging in style, from Diane Cluck to Jason Isbell, Phoebe Bridgers to Kacey Musgraves.

Kira has performed at legendary antifolk venue, Sidewalk Cafe, listening rooms, Caffe Vivaldi and Rockwood Music Hall, the historic Capri Theatre in Gaffney, SC, as well as renowned songwriter showcases, Homegrown Music Cafe, Live in the Lobby at the Patchogue Theatre, and LIVE at Deepwell's on Long Island.

Kira released her debut EP, Daughter, in 2013. She continues to write and perform, and is overjoyed to now be releasing new singles, with a full length album to follow.
