Metalcore troublemakers NOSTROMO unveil details on their new album 'Bucephale', which is set to release on October 28th via Hummus Records. Once again, the band brilliantly step out of their comfort zone to deliver a complex and violent opus with a deep dark approach - in collaboration with Treha Sektori/Dehn Sora of black metal collective Church Of Ra. A must-hear!

NOSTROMO's new album 'Bucephale' is the band's first full-length over 20 years, since 'Ecce Lex' in 2002. Darker than their previous releases, the record perfectly blends extreme and black metal. Both sonic universes merge with intelligence and maturity to produce constant osmosis during 10 brutal and technical tracks. 'Bucephale' is peppered by top-notch collaborations with heavy psychedelic unit Monkey 3 on "Asato Ma" and ritual ambient artist Treha Sektori (Church Of Ra) on "κατάϐασις" (read Katabasis). The latter also crafted the artwork via his art project Dehn Sora.
First excerpt "In Praise Of Betrayal" is shaped by a gripping hardcore blitz: devastating drums onslaughts contrast with a relieving melodic metal conclusion. Feel the cathartic raw energy by playing Nostromo's new song just below and add the track to the streaming platforms HERE.

Say the band: "The intention was to deliver something more accomplished, with more diversified compositions but in the continuation of "Narrenschiff". An album is a long-term exercise, with a dynamic, a colour, which allows to elaborate ideas on more accomplished compositions. The collaboration with Treha Sektori (Church of Ra) was born with the proposal to participate in Major Arcana during the Red Bull Music Academy at Trianon in Paris by the end of 2019, where 2 artists were collaborating on a show by combining their musical universes. The proposal came from graphic design duo Førtifem, who took care of the art direction and visual projections during the whole night. We met Monkey 3 on a gig and stayed in touch with them. Nostromo has always been crafted by meetings, and stepping out of our comfort zone helps us to move forward."

Nostromo's upcoming album 'Bucephale' was engineered by Raphaël Bovey (Kruger) and Pedro Tomé, recorded at Noise Palace Studio, Gimel (Switzerland), mixed by Raphaël Bovey at My Room Studio, Lausanne (Switzerland) and mastered by Lad Agabekov at Caduceus Studio, Gimel (Switzerland). Artwork and layout by Dehn Sora.

Formed in 1996, Helvetian four-piece NOSTROMO emerged in the middle of a bubbling hardcore scene powered by high-octane bands like Knut or Shora. Their violence-drenched sounding showcases the project’s exceptional virtuosity and intelligence, made up of accurate riffing, overpowering drums, hopping bass lines and intense tortured vocals. They quickly demoed and released a two-track 7”, followed a few years later by their debut studio album ‘Argue’ (1998, Snuff Records). Their EP ‘Eyesore’ came out in 2000 via Mosh Bart Industries/Bisect Bleep, before their split EP with French grindcore quintet Blockheads (2002, Shogun Records). Complex and technical, their masterpiece ‘Ecce Lex’ was released the same year through Overcome Records. The blue-chip musicianship as well as the uncompromising production - engineered by Mieszko Talarczyk of Swedish grindcore unit Nasum - raised the album to the rank of extreme metal reference. Somewhere between Napalm Death and Meshuggah, Nostromo’s skillfulness and fury hit the nail on the head. They started to tour relentlessly across Europe; live appearances alongside legends such as Slayer, Motörhead, Mastodon or Converge have fashioned the four juggernauts into a phenomenal live act. Nostromo released ‘Hysteron-Proteron’ in 2004 on Overcome Records. The album gathers acoustic versions of songs taken from their previous releases. A successful and acclaimed risk-taking.

In the mid 2000s, Nostromo split due to unsolvable tensions within the band. They reunited 11 years later for an informal private show. A few pictures posted on social networks were enough to spark things off: Gojira jumped at the chance to invite them on their tour, shortly before that the mighty Hellfest added them to their 2017 edition lineup. Galvanized by this substantial interest, Nostromo rose from the ashes and released their EP ‘Narrenschiff’ in 2019.

Nostromo recently inked a deal with Swiss record label Hummus Records (founded by the band Coilguns) and announced the release of their fourth studio album ‘Bucephale’ on October 28th 2022.
