Washing machine drums! The new Laundry Day is not the old one, but in a way it is, though even better. As Playout is in charge of this year's communication, we personally want to inform you about the new spectacle. Here we go.
Luc Carpentier, founder of the Was, took over the creative steering wheel again after a revitalizing 5-year break. Reclaiming the first Saturday of September as Thé most important day to celebrate Antwerp’s diverse culture. Together with Hans ‘Murdock’ Machiels he provided a very interesting music mix. (believe us, it is!) The festival's fashion heritage, born in the Kammenstraat, will get extra attention again and you can expect (live) art collaborations too! Laundry Day always was, and always will be, a 12-hour celebration of culture and discoveries.
But how will Laundry Day look like? Well, without ruining the element of surprise we can already reveal this information.
Laundry Day is a cross-over of genres – bold and boundless. There will be drum ‘n’ bass and dubstep cooked up by the chef of Rampage, top techno from Belgium’s finest, goodies presented by the Antwerp party crew Hush Hush, after summer sweetness and R&B, streetwise hip-hop, pure and uncut for the first time at a big festival, EDM, hardstyle and many other guilty pleasures. To top it off, you can feast your eyes with on-and-offstage visuals curated by the eminent Oscar van den Boogaard, including works of Charlotte De Cock and Steve Locatelli.
