• "Belgium's most funky jazz combo makes the ground boil!"
  • "One of the top 5 acts of this year's Pukkelpop edition"
  • "Nordmann combines the best of both worlds, jazz ànd rock music"
  • "An elusive soundtrack for a James Bond movie, directed by Tarantino"

..These are a few of the many amazing reactions after their gig at Pukkelpop this weekend!
3 years after obtaining a second place at HUMO’s Rock Rally and an eponymous EP,
2 years after well-received debut album Alarm!,
1 … instrumental four-piece Nordmann returns with a strong and intense second album: THE BOILING GROUND”

Ranging from repetitive, propulsive grooves and jagged, espresso-driven work-outs, to luscious dreamscapes and shapeshifting rumblings: THE BOILING GROUND is an album in which every roar, thud, growl and incision is meticulously placed. It pushes Nordmann firmly to the forefront of Belgium’s thriving music scene, signaling they’re ready for bigger things.

Recorded at Koen Gisen’s La Patrie studio, the eight-song album retains the unmistakable Nordmann identity, while simultaneously expanding their sound and vision. Even though Mattias De Craene (saxophone), Edmund Lauret (guitar), Dries Geusens (bass) and Elias Devoldere (drums) have been active with various other projects, they worked tirelessly to transcend their first album.

Aiming for a true ‘band release’ and with a thorough preparation before going into the studio, THE BOILING GROUND stands as Nordmann’s tightest, most diverse ànd cohesive release until now. Influenced by brooding jazz, crooked rock & roll, expressionist grooves and nocturnal minimalism in an even more layered and seductive way.
