Waltzburg releases debut album ‘Cut The Wire’. First album by the Dutch indie band is full of contradictions

Dutch indie band Waltzburg releases their debut album ‘Cut The Wire’ today. The previously released songs ‘Friends’, ‘Eyes Shut’, ‘Consensus’ and ‘Gotor’ are all featured on the new album, along with five new songs. The album is now available in stores and online. The release is followed by a Dutch club tour through the Netherlands, for which tickets can be purchased via www.waltzburg.com.

‘Cut The Wire’ is the title and also a concise summary of the debut album from Waltzburg. Overarching themes follow in various ways, such as making decisions and choosing directions. The songs are about the effort it takes to make choices, but also about the dissatisfaction with the choices of others, over which you have no control. A bigger contradiction between text and music is almost impossible to imagine. Where the music sounds creative and playful, the lyrics are anything but uplifting and they are mainly about doubt. There is a continuous struggle between music and text.

In Kytopia, Waltzburg and producer Simon Akkermans have taken enough time to work on the album. ‘Cut The Wire’ has eventually become a diverse album with playful indie guitars, but also a subtle ode to bands such as Talking Heads with new wave and postpunk-like vibes. "We have been working on this album for so long that right now we mostly just want to go and party to celebrate that the release is finally here. We hope to see everyone at our club tour to celebrate the release with us!" thus the band.
Just as the album’s artwork is a collage of ideas, so is ‘Cut The Wire’. An eclectic whole in which pointy indie guitars, wavy synths and colourful percussion form a collage of a couple of Weltschmerzende twenty year olds.

‘Cut The Wire’ is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and iTunes. The album can be found in record stores as well.

To celebrate the release of the new album, Waltzburg will be touring the Netherlands this and next month. They play the following shows:
