Oh yeah! The third name for Rock Werchter 2016 is in! Red Hot Chili Peppers will be playing the festival on Saturday 2 July. It will be great to see this sunny Californian rock band again. Three top acts are confirmed so far. Rammstein have been announced for Friday 1 July. Florence + the Machine come to the Festivalpark on Sunday 3 July. Rock Werchter runs from Thursday 30 June to Sunday 3 July 2016 at the Werchter Festivalpark (Belgium). Tickets go on sale on Saturday 5 December at 9 am. More festival news to follow shortly!
When it comes to music Red Hot Chili Peppers have done it all. Their original rock funk mix is highly contagious. The American band is a massive force in the business. In 2012, the four were -well deserved- immortalized in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their 11th album, in the making since early this year, is produced by Danger Mouse (one of the Gnarls Barkley duo, here at Werchter in 2008), who is known for his work with artists like The Black Keys and Jack White. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Anthony Kiedis says: " The new material is as good as any songs we’ve ever written. Danger Mouse is very good about coming up with super-modern ideas, but he'll also touch on the acoustic guitar in the control room and strip the song down to its acoustic essentials". At this sixth Rock Werchter performance by America’s most hot blooded band, it will be a case of the classic mixed in with the new songs.
