The Colorist Orchestra are delighted to announce details of the new chapter in an eclectic musical world, unveiling The Colorist Orchestra& Lisa Hannigan EP set for release digitally through Play It Again Sam on April 6th. Today they share the video for ‘We, The Drowned’, an exquisite take on a track that was originally recorded by Lisa and taken from 2016’s At Swim album.

The Colorist Orchestra, taking influences from the likes of Talking Heads, Kronos Quartet and Steve Reich amongst others, take the repertoire of an invited artist and, using an array of classical instrumentation, ‘rework’ the tracks. The Belgian collective - seen last year collaborating with Icelandic singer and songwriter Emiliana Torrini - join up with Lisa Hannigan and unravel and reconstruct this amazing and breathtaking singer-songwriters catalogue with tracks taken from 2011’s Passenger and her most recent outing the hugely successful Top 40 album, 2016’s At Swim.

The re-interpretation of the songs that comprise the five track EP creates an atmospheric, almost cinematic feel, complementing the original compositions whist redefining the musical parameters that at times settles amidst pop, classical and the left- field. As with previous projects, the premise is to work with an artist and perform some live shows with them before releasing the recordings as a live EP. Lisa performed a run of shows throughout Belgium and Holland last year from which these tracks are taken and this EP coincides with the final live performances with The Colorist Orchestra – see below for dates
