De LA-based rockband White Denim heeft de komst van hun nieuwe LP aangekondigt met de komst de single (God Created) Lock and Key. In de 20-jaar van hun bestaan heeft White Denim een reputatie opgebouwd voor hun aanstekelijke mix van genres en ongewone songstructuren. Deze reputatie maken ze op de aankomende plaat ‘13’ waar; het album belooft een warme groovy mix van rock, funk, dub, soul en rauwe blues.
Van dit album hebben ze een voorproefje gedeeld in de vorm van de single (God Created) Lock and Key. Het is een psych-funk-blues track over alle het verschikkelijke in de wereld, waar frontman en gitarist James Petralli over toelicht:
“I hope that it’s a somewhat terrifying, startling, and visceral piece for everyone that hears it. Everything I say in that song is the truth. It's about power, generational cycles of abuse, shame, violence, and survival. It is an articulation of the rage that I feel and hopefully can at least partially conceal successfully most of the time.”
