De Brits-Japanse Rina Sawayama heeft haar nieuwe single This Hell uitgebracht ter aankondiging van haar nieuwe album Hold The Girl, dat op 2 september uitkomt. This Hell is een vrolijk, up-tempo en pop-meets-country track, die geproduceerd is door Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence & the Machine) en geschreven door Rina en Lauren Aquilina (Demi Lovato, Little Mix). Het nummer is een ode aan LGBTQIA+ iconen als Shania Twain, Britney Spears en Princess Diana.
Over This Hell zegt Rina:
“It’s an important song for me given the human rights that are being taken away from minorities at a rapid rate in the name of traditional religious beliefs, more specifically I was thinking about the rights being taken away from the LGBTQ community when I wrote this song. When the world tells us we don't deserve love and protection, we have no choice but to give love and protection to each other. This Hell is better with you."
Rina heeft een enorme fanbase die is opgebouwd sinds debuutalbum SAWAYAMA (2020) en samenwerkingen met artiesten als Charli XCX, Lady Gaga en Elton John.
This Hell debuteerde op BBC Radio 1's Hottest Record in the World, en Rina was gisteravond bij The Tonight Show van Jimmy Fallon te gast.
