'Beautiful James' van Placebo is door de luisteraars van radiozender KINK uitgeroepen tot beste track van het jaar 2021. Dat heeft KINK-dj Jasper Leijdens zojuist bekend gemaakt op het radiostation bij de finale van de jaarlijkste 'Playlist of the Year'.
De Britse band Placebo kwam in 2021 met hun eerste single in vijf jaar en dat bleek een schot in de roos. Al sinds de start van de band in de jaren 90 is Placebo hofleverancier voor KINK en de mannen zetten die traditie door in 2021.
Nummer twee en drie in de lijst zijn respectievelijk 'How Not To Drown' van CHVRCHES en Cure-zanger Robert Smith en 'Red' van de nieuwe Belgische band Ramkot.
"De Playlist of the Year laat ook dit jaar weer precies zien waar KINK voor staat", aldus programmadirecteur Michiel Veenstra. "De beste alternatieve rock van gevestigde namen als Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon en Royal Blood, maar ook nieuwe namen als Ramkot, Wet Leg en Son Mieux. Het is fijn en noodzakelijk dat deze muziek met de terugkeer van KINK weer een plek in het Nederlandse radiolandschap heeft".
