Paramore heeft zojuist aangekondigd dat hun nieuwe studioalbum, getiteld This Is Why, 10 februari 2023 uitkomt. Het is de eerste nieuwe plaat sinds After Laughter, die in 2017 uitkwam. Het trio uit Nashville nam dit zesde album met 10 tracks op in Los Angeles met producer Carlos De La Garze (Wolf Alice, Ziggy Marley).
Naast de aankondiging van het album heeft de band ook de gelijknamige single 'This Is Why' uitgebracht. Het is het laatste nummer dat de band schreef voor de plaat en is daarmee ook gelijk de titeltrack geworden. De bijhorende videoclip is geschoten door Turnstile's Brendan Yates.
“This Is Why was the very last song we wrote for the album. To be honest, I was so tired of writing lyrics but Taylor convinced Zac and I both that we should work on this last idea. What came out of it was the title track for the whole album. It summarizes the plethora of ridiculous emotions, the rollercoaster of being alive in 2022, having survived even just the last 3 or 4 years. You’d think after a global pandemic of fucking biblical proportions and the impending doom of a dying planet, that humans would have found it deep within themselves to be kinder or more empathetic or something.” - Hayley Williams
Over Paramore
Het Amerikaanse trio Paramore bestaat uit Hayley Williams, Taylor York en Zac Farro. De band uit Nashville is opgericht in 2003 en heeft inmiddels al vijf albums uitgebracht en een Grammy Award gewonnen. Met tracks als 'Misery Business' en 'Still Into You' heeft de band wereldwijd haar stempel gedrukt in de alternatieve scene. Het laatste album van de band, After Laughter, kwam uit in 2017, waarna Paramore een tijdelijke break nam. Frontwoman Hayley heeft in de afgelopen jaren twee solo albums uitgebracht, die inmiddels ook miljoenen keren beluisterd zijn.
