Het is de voorloper van een gelijknamige EP van 3 songs, die op 6 december zal uitkomen. De EP vat de schoonheid en complexiteit van de winter samen, het seizoen van de korte dagen en lange nachten.
Zanger Andrew Davie: "We wanted to make an EP that felt intimate, nostalgic and felt united by the theme of Winter. It was a chance between albums for us to work on and explore something more musically sparse and lyrically reflective, working with our longtime friend, collaborator, and producer Ian Grimble. The EP is a collection of songs united by a sense of what Winter means to us. In all its beauty, sadness, stillness and its ability to transform and bring things back to life." De titelsong Only Son of the Falling Snow is vandaag Catch of the Day bij Studio Brussel. Het nummer is nostalgisch. Iemand kijkt terug op zijn leven, wandelt door het ouderlijke huis, herbeleeft cruciale momenten en denkt na over zijn huidige leven. Davie werd voor de lyrics geïnspireerd door het boek Winter van Ali Smith.
Davie: "I think it's an incredibly inspiring time of year and it was a really fun and collaborative process for Kev and I to work on these songs, flesh them out, and bring them to life: embracing piano ideas and more acoustic elements whilst still exploring electronic textures behind the more reflective lyrics and sparse arrangements. We're very proud to share this song with you."
Eerder dit jaar kwam het derde album van Bear’s Den uit: So that you might hear me. In totaal verkocht de band wereldwijd meer dan een half miljoen platen. In ons land stonden ze al op Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop en in de Lotto Arena. Voorbije zomer tourden ze ook in het voorpgrogramma van Neil Young.
