Today, rising star Zacchae’us Paul shares “Alpha Women Remix,” a bold reimagining of a track from his acclaimed 2024 debut JAZZ MONEY. Released on the storied and recently relaunched Candid Records, the album has quietly built serious momentum, earning a spot on Bandcamp’s Best Albums of 2024 (“one of the hippest albums of the year”) and NPR’s Essential Jazz Discoveries of 2024 (“a head-turning debut”).

Crafted by producer-artist Paul, the track features the soulful trumpet of Marquis Hill and a deeply moving vocal performance by rising Brazilian artist MERICIA (Spotify’s Amplifika ambassador spotlighting Black Brazilian culture), who also brings her vision to life as the graphic designer and cover model. Together, they honor Black women as creators, warriors, nurturers, and vessels of generational strength.

The remix is elevated by lush co-production from vvundertone, featuring rich textures built from his signature drum pack Lunova By vvundertone and his distinctive, emotive guitar work. The result is a vibrant, spiritual soundscape that reverberates with honor, grace, and unapologetic power. This isn’t just a song its a celebration. A proclamation. A sonic love letter to the Alpha Women.

Paul’s music is a fresh take on jazz, blending Atlanta hip-hop, gospel, and Caribbean rhythms. Influenced by his musical experiences in church, his exploration of jazz intensified after discovering Duke Ellington, leading him to pursue music studies in Puerto Rico which vastly expanded his musical horizons. He has performed with esteemed players like Terri Lyne Carrington, Melanie Charles, Henry Cole and Saunders Sermons (Jay-Z, Fantasia, Maxwell), all of whom are featured on Jazz Money.

In January, Paul played two sold-out events at the 2025 NYC Winter Jazz Fest, including the headlining spot at Gilles Peterson’s Sunday Jazz Dance Session at Brooklyn’s Xanadu.

Paul is part of a new generation of Candid Records artists which also includes Milena Casado, Simon Moullier and Matthew Stevens.. The recently relaunched label - which already has 5 Grammy wins to its credit since 2021 - is building on its legacy as one of the most storied and influential American independent labels of the 1960s.
