Two years after the release of the hard-hitting EP Act-U-All, Yesterdaze are ready to release their first full-length album, Sentences. An unforgiving, raw album filled to the brim with energetic and unapologetic rock.
Sentences is an album built by contrasts. Emotionally deep messages are conveyed through large melodic soundscapes, driven forward by playful guitar riffs, sweet bass lines and explosive drums. By playing on these emotional and musical contrasts found on the album vocalist Armann truly manages to exhibit his unique vocal range.

Armann: "In regard to the lyrics, I found a lot of inspiration from my upbringing and from past love affairs, both of which have been filled with hardship. But it’s also a part of my past that have shaped who I am. Sentences is my way of putting the past behind me and aiming for the future. As for the song writing, I would say we look to bands like Biffy Clyro and try to combine their melodic range with IDLES's unapologetic presence and raw energy.”
The result is emotionally loaded music made accessible.
Their music is created as a way to release pent-up aggression, and help relieve people of the heaviness of anger, sadness, and solitude. Letting you know that you are not alone.
Since the release of their first EP, the band has seen a steady growth of fans, especially live, both home and abroad.
Yesterdaze: “We’ve learnt that our fan base is one, that like us, is keen to feel something real. They seem to share our passion for justice, kinship, and of being present in the moment.
We wanted this album to be for everyone, but we wrote it especially for those who have experienced betrayal in close relationships or by themselves. where the songs are meant to represent all the stages you go through in those moment. From the moment you realize the betrayal, until you have managed to put it behind you. It's a journey through grief, despair, doubt and anger, spiced with a good dose of fuck-you attitude.”
Upping the number of live shows and touring more together has resulted in a more tight-knit band. Through new experiences and new inspirations, this makes Sentences a more mature and uncompromising than the band's first EP.
Yesterdaze: “The big difference between our EP and this album is that we've figured out who we want to be. We have settled in a relatively hard soundscape, but one that also allow us to play with softer tempo and compositions and where we can continue to surprise our listeners. We are a rock band but have learned to stretch the boundaries of what defines this even better."
At its core, Sentences is an album about reaching for the future. Where you seek to learn from the situations you find yourself in, no matter how difficult life may be.
Even in your darkest hours, you can choose to confront yourself and your own feelings, and through this find new paths.
Armann: “I wasn't sure what the album should be, or what to call it, until I wrote the lyrics for the last song, Sentenced to Shine. At that moment I realized that the album should be a self-examination, an analysis of what I have felt at my lowest and worst, but also highest and best".
Musically, Sentences is a culmination of the band's four members: Armann, Torje, Lars and Øyvind. They all come from very different places in rock, and you can hear clear references in everything from pop to metal in the music. Perhaps with particular emphasis on punk and alternative rock.
It's all a wonderful and broad mix of the best rock has to offer, an album packed with well-written songs that hook you in from the first listen.
Sentences will be released on 8 November 2024. In autumn 2024, Yesterdaze will embark on their biggest Norwegian tour to date with 12 dates. At the same time, they have also started to see interest in countries such as Denmark, Great Britain and Germany.
And this power pack of a band is not stopping there, in addition to getting ready for both their debut album and tour, the band has also started writing new music.
As the band themselves say: “Yesterdaze is a machine! With Sentences we have started the engine and we are not going to stop any time soon. We will keep playing live and stay uncompromising both in our songwriting and in our performances.
Through this we will continue to reach out for our people, the ones who seek to experience the full range of emotions and shake them loose with us."
