U2 have shared their new 7½ –minute short film, starring actor Woody Harrelson (Cheers, Natural Born Killers, True Detective,…) and his real life daughter Zoe Harrelson. The short film by Vincent Haycock accompanies the release of Song For Someone - the third single from U2’s current album Songs of Innocence. Song For Someone is produced by Ryan Tedder and Flood.

Woody & Zoe Harrelson play a father-daughter duo in the short film about a man being released from prison after years of incarceration. 'Song For Someone' is thematically linked to the SundanceTV series Rectify, a show that follows the story of Daniel Holden and his family as they struggle to move forward after Daniel's release from 19 years on death row.

Speaking about the film Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. said - "Vincent Haycock’s vision and Woody and Zoe Harrelson’s performances didn’t just complement Song For Someone — they completed it. We could never have envisioned the new dimension this beautiful story would give our song, and we thank everyone involved for their part in fully bringing Song For Someone to life."

Songs of Innocence is U2’s most personal work to date, charting the band’s earliest influences from 70s rock and punk rock to early 80s electronica and ambient music and giving insight into how and why the band came together. The album deals with themes of home and family, relationships and discovery and was recorded in Dublin, London, New York and Los Angeles.

The band are currently on tour in the US and Canada and making headlines by inviting fans and tribute bands to join them on stage each night.
