Italian powerhouses TONS (sludge/doom) and VISCERA/// (post-metal) recently released their collaborative album 'Subsound Split Series 10' via Subsound Records. The track "Celebrate Death" is taken from this sludge/rock/post-metal gem, and is part of Viscera's record side. Get into the stunning music video before its tomorrow release!

"Celebrate Death" is a psychic suffocating footage about Death illustrating a song with both guttural and clean vocals. Directed by Lorenzo Fassina, it disturbs as much as it fascinates! "The half-a-head-and-torso presence of the vocalist is enough to bring in a sense of humanity and the overarching band itself, and the entirety is just a fuzzy feel-good vibe to match the track perfectly" say Everything Is Noise.

On their split side, VISCERA/// deviate ever so slightly from their post-metal or even grincore trajectory to offer space and experimental elements. On the other side, TONS maintain their sludge sound signature on the first track "Rime Of The Modern Grower", but they totally revisit their classic track "Boards Of The Unlighter" in a garage/surf flavour. The third song is a cover version of Nirvana’s "Milk it" - off 'In Utero' - taken from the recording sessions of their previous album 'Hashenshion' (Heavy Psych Sounds, 2022).

The 'Subsound Split Series' is a collector series of 12" limited edition vinyls. Each release features two bands of the Italian and international underground scene, spanning multiple genres. Artworks and illustrations are curated by Stonino and play on the interaction between two movies characters chosen by the musicians of the split in an imaginative way. This one features James Wood/Max Renn in David Cronenberg's ‘Videodrome’ (Viscera///'s choice) and Ghostbusters' Rick Moranis (by TONS).

TONS formed in 2009 by members of various hardcore bands from the Turin (Italy) scene. Getting all slow and heavy, TONS deal with weed-related topics with a lot of humor, with a certain tendency to esotericism that characterizes the city of Turin. In 2010, they recorded a demo and in 2012 the first full length 'Musineè Doom Session' on Roman Heavy Psych Sounds. In 2013, TONS began to plow European venues, opening the stage for bands like Bongzilla, Unsane, Church of Misery, Napalm Death, Pentagram. The band also played renowned festivals Duna Jam in Sardinia and Incubate Fest in Tillburg (NL). In 2018, TONS released their sophomore album 'Filthy Flowers of Doom' on Heavy Psych Sounds, followed by a skull-crushing ‘Doom Sessions Vol. 4’ split EP with sludge masters Bongzilla in 2021. During these years TONS played in many important festivals, such as DesertFest London and Antwerp, Sonic Blast, Frantic Fest, Venezia Hardcore and Heavy Psych Sounds Fest.
