The Vices will release their new album ‘Before It Might Be Gone’ this winter. Earlier we got to hear new work from the band from Groningen with ‘Wrong Ones’ and today we get a taste of the album with ‘Gold’. Meanwhile, the band has been named a Spotify RADAR artist and will perform at a sold-out Ronda of TivoliVredenburg on 13 December. The album will be released 7 February 2025 via V2 Records.

‘Before It Might Be Gone’ is a raw and honest self- reflection from someone encountering himself for the first time. The album is a journey of change and includes all the aspects involved. How do you come to grips with who you have been in the past? How do you find out who you want to be? Change can bring feelings of hope and happiness, but to get there, you must first take a good look in the mirror. It is a search for happiness, calmness and acceptance.

The Vices have always asked questions, but where on previous albums their questions and personal opinions were more about events in the outside world, on ‘Before It Might Be Gone’ they are now related to personal problems. Personal problems that can sometimes make it hard to be okay with yourself anymore. “The best thing then is to come home and find unconditional love here that endures even your darkest moments. That's the family dinner on the album cover for us.” says Floris.

“Of course your personal problems have to do with the rest of the world. You live in this world, you measure yourself and your actions against the world around you. I realised that I did not act okay towards other people. I had certain unpleasant patterns and made bad choices and needed to change. "This period brought many questions. How do I want to relate myself to the rest of the world? How do I make things right again? Do I think everyone always deserves a second chance? And what does the rest of the world think about that? I feel that our society is not very forgiving. But is there actually any value in public opinion? Or is it mostly about your own opinion and that of those close to you?” Ultimately, it leads to a shifting perspective on how to live a life. You have to feel the bad in order to see the way to the good again. The members of The Vices faced this task and processed it with the help of the album. Just in time, Before It Might Be Gone...

The single ‘Gold’, released today, is about always wanting to do better and better. Running for gold, and never stopping. Through the band's own experience, this can cause you to get further away from yourself and start doing things that are not in line with your own values. Floris, frontman of The Vices says: “For a long time, all I did was run and run. It was necessary to stop and breathe for a while. It also feels like it stems from our society. We all love people who achieve something. We talk about that. I think we should always want to be better, but the definition of ‘better’ is not fixed.”

The Vices perform a contrasting mix of Britpop, Indie, Psychedelic Blues and Surf Rock. Imagine the love baby of The Strokes and Cage the Elephant with a live energy reminiscent of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They are resounding names, but above all, The Vices are unprecedentedly themselves. With plenty of fun to play and blood-serious riffs, the band plays tight and explosive as easily as danceable. After several sold-out Dutch club tours, a sold-out Paradiso, their own festival called ViceFest on 21 September in Groningen and 10 October in Berlin as well as a tour of 25 shows in America, the band is ready for their new adventure with ‘Before It Might Be Gone’, which will be released 7 February.

The Vices are four guys with a special friendship. They are completely different from each other, but in this band that is precisely their strength. From rock, through electronic music back to psychedelic blues, nothing is too crazy for them.
