Témé Tan today premiere’s the video for the 3rd single, ‘Coups De Griffe’, taken from his forthcoming self-titled debut album out 6th October on [PIAS] Recordings. Shot during his time in Brazil, the video is once more self-shot and self-produced by Tanguy Haesevoets, aka Témé Tan.

He explains: “Back in 2012, I stayed for about 3 months in Brazil. I wanted to learn Portuguese and a few tricks with the pandeiro, one of the main percussion in Brazilian music. In Rio de Janeiro, I was overwhelmed by the energy from the "rodas do samba". People were coming after work to sing and dance to Brazil's popular repertoire.

It made me realize how much I wanted to make people move and dance if I was to write music ever again.

Last Spring, I paid a visit to my friends Pablo Casella, Pipo Pegorara and Ligia Kamada. The 3 of them being very much involved in São Paulo's musical scene. From Rio Pequeno to Barra do Sahy and Monteiro Lobato, I got lost in landscapes and in the stream of people living in the metropolis. Like (Where is) Wally, I hid myself from the eye of my gopro. "Il faut montrer que l'on vit, qu'on vit sans elle aussi - I want to show you that even alone I still go on with my life and keep myself busy."

Discussing the meaning behind ‘Coups De Griffe’, Tanguy continued: “it’s is a song about independence within a couple. I believe that the more somebody can be happy with oneself, the better he/she can evolve in a relationship.”

".. attends moi que j'inspire, je ne voudrais pas qu'à nous deux on expire la date ... - Wait up until I can take a breath, I don't want to see our story come to an end too quick..."

Travelling is in Témé Tan’s blood - born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, his family were constantly back and forth between Belgium and Kinshasa - something which is effortlessly reflected and at the heart of his debut long-player which is both ultra modern, reflecting the life of a man who can feel at home on four continents, and shot through with a deep respect for older traditions and identities.

Témé Tan has continued to gig over the summer having played a number of shows this year across the globe including much talked about performances at the Eurosonic and Great Escape festivals and support slots with the likes of Milky Chance, Songhoy Blues, Ibeyi & Francois And The Atlas Mountains.
