After their electro-pop beginnings, Stain of Light took a more folk-oriented turn on their 2nd EP (‘Simple Things’, 2023). The band is now fully embracing this direction with a self-titled debut album, building folk-pop anthems with delicate acoustic guitar arpeggios and grandiose vocal harmonies. The 11 tracks on ‘Stain of Light’ are organic, close to their live rendition, and above all, incredibly catchy.
Thematically, the album is about journeys, departures and friendships that cling fiercely to the passage of time (‘When We Were Young’). Go forward and run; this is a celebration of daring: declaring your love, singing about friendship on the first single ‘Stay’, confiding in vulnerability (‘Come On’), setting off on a journey or wanting to keep someone close to you. There's no question of whispering things here, the album shouts its message loud and clear. ‘And it could be, the one’, sing Stain Of Light: it could be the one. The right person? The right choice? The right direction? The right decision? In any case, you've got to dare to give it a try!
