Austin/Glasgow duo SKLOSS are today releasing ‘Mind Hive’, the third and final single to be lifted from their debut album ‘The Pattern Speaks’. Due out March 7th 2025 on London-based label Fuzz Club and engineered/co-produced by Charles Godfrey (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Swans), ‘The Pattern Speaks’ blends heavy psychedelia, post-metal drones, meditative drums, and raw distorted riffs performed with honesty and deliberation.
Across these eight equally pulverising and ethereal tracks, the result is a powerful, atmospheric wall of ‘spacegaze’ that indulges SKLOSS’ heaviest and gentlest sonic impulses all at once. On ‘Mind Hive’ the band say: “Mind meld over matter, MIND HIVE is about conscious anger for good, setting boundaries for what one will accept, and putting on the brakes for self-care and regrouping in the face of mounting obstacles.”

SKLOSS first formed in Austin, TX as a husband-and-wife duo between American drummer/vocalist Karen Skloss (Moving Panoramas) and Scottish guitarist/vocalist Sandy Carson (Iglomat) during the COVID lockdown. Surrounded by drums and amps and the need to play loud, the sonic sound of SKLOSS became a response to the crazy world just outside their window. Jams became songs, while the noise level, experimentation and distortion went up to a volume much louder than you’d expect from a duo. “Living next to the woods has something to do with it. We started to use music as an outlet, like most everyone during that time, we were so cooped up,” says Skloss.
A self-released debut EP 'Voices Travel Through This' was released in 2022 and after sharing the stage with acts like Divide & Dissolve, Messa, The Well, Glorium, and Oryx, SKLOSS performed a set at the 2022 Levitation Festival. An immersive audio/visual meditative performance and collaboration ’Aether’ with renowned artist Thomas Hooper (whose artwork adorns ‘The Pattern Speaks’) took place in a concrete culvert at Colab Projects in February 2024 ahead of several shows during SXSW. The same cosmic performance was taken to the Iconic Echo Bridge in San Antonio, TX and most recently the James Turrell Skyspace at UT Austin.
