Chilean outfit Prometheus Rising have just dropped their latest studio effort, “Blood of the Elohim”. This semi-conceptual production marks a new creative chapter for the project spearheaded by Manuel Alarcón Saavedra, former bassist and founder of Inferis. The album melds the sheer power of metal with historical, mystical, and philosophical themes, cementing the group's formidable sound within the nation's heavy/power metal landscape.
“Blood of the Elohim” is split into two distinct narrative threads. The first tackles human and historical subjects, from the Mapuche resistance during the Arauco War (‘L.D.I.’) and the tale of two mystical warriors (‘Stormriders’), to resilience in the face of disaster (‘All That’s Left Behind’) and the perennial figure of the tyrant throughout the ages (‘The Dark Tyrant’).
The album's back half delves into a mystical-religious saga that proposes a bold rereading of the Old Testament. It suggests that the supposed physical manifestations of Yahweh were, in fact, the misinterpretation of technologically advanced beings who presented themselves as gods to a nascent humanity.
“Our goal is to keep growing, make a name for ourselves on the world stage, and share the bill with other bands in the genre” comments Manuel Alarcón. “This record represents years of hard graft and a personal quest navigating history, faith, and science fiction”.
Production for the album was handled by Manuel himself, who also tracked the guitars, vocals, and drums at Coyote Recordings in Viña del Mar between 2023 and 2024. The effort features contributions from Rodrigo Aranda on bass and technical consulting, along with Vicente Salucci on lead guitar and Oscar Andrés as a guest drummer for live performances. Alarcón also helmed the mixing, mastering, and visual art, making this a true auteur statement.
The tracklist for “Blood of the Elohim” reads as follows:
01.- In the Beginning / Blood of Elohim
02.- In the Search of the Gods
03.- The Dark Tyrant
04.- They Come at Night
05.- L.D.I. (Blood of Heroes)
06.- Stormriders
07.- All That’s Left Behind
08.- Words in Time
Formed in Viña del Mar, Chile, Prometheus Rising first emerged in 2021 with a debut release that featured a roster of heavyweight guest musicians, including Henning Basse (Metalium), Dan Elbeman (Bloden Wedd), and guitarist Gabriel Hidalgo, among others. With “Blood of the Elohim”, the band solidifies its unique identity and is poised to project its name far beyond the Chilean metal circuit and onto the international stage.
