Sam Tudor today shares the first single, “Everybody’s Keeping Their Word”, from his forthcoming album set for release Fall 2020. Tudor’s latest record was written over a three-year period between Toronto and Vancouver and mixed back in Tudor’s home of Interior BC where the video for“Everybody’s Keeping Their Word” was also shot.

Tudor and his brothers grew up at a forest research station in Interior BC. “It’s a place that has always offered us a sort of safe harbour from the cities where we now live. In making this video, says Tudor, “our only goal was to capture the strange energy of the place while we were living and working there with our friends.”

After filming was complete, the research station ended up providing the band with a literal safe harbour, as Tudor explains, “right as we finished shooting was when North America was starting to realize the magnitude of COVID-19, and implementing safety measures. The group of us decided that rather than head back to the city we would stay at the camp, and we lived there together for weeks.”

“Everybody’s Keeping Their Word” follows Sam Tudor’s 2020 nomination for the prestigious Prism Prize, a national arts prize awarded to the best Canadian music video of the year.

Sam Tudor is an individual person, but also the title of a project involving a large group of friends across Canada. It is a solo project AND a D.I.Y. collective effort. The underpinnings of Sam Tudor’s music are genre-less; jazz players join forces with Eno inspired beats while acoustic guitars meet distorted synths. What unifies the project is Tudor’s distinct voice: a sandy, melancholic narrator, leaning in close with writing that is often an act of self-exposure - a confessional and cathartic outpouring.
