Pollyanna is a French based indie-folkster. Her honest songwriting and her heart-warming voice remind of the edgy charm of PJ Harvey, Calexico or all time classics like Neil Young.
Despite a natural flair for minor chords, her cheerful presence, eclectic taste and experiences as an outsider (in Europe, the USA, South America…) open up her musical field to all things pop, rock, folk and folklores. As an ex-journalist, she loves to deal with 21th century obsessions, sometimes in a tongue-in-cheek way: travels, the weight of the past, identities, resilience and the constant urge to define oneself…
Man Time is a mini-album released at the very end of 2022. It’s a short collection of folk-rock songs with a semi acoustic backing band (quirky Tom-Waitsy drums, doublebass, electric guitars, vintage keyboards, violin…), mixing folk, rock and, on a couple of tracks, hints of new orleans brass (trombone, trumpet and sax).
Pollyanna writes songs in English, but she uses her French taste for poetry and social commentary. She plays with timeless stereotypes (Diamond Ring), explores feelings (Four Seasons, Your Smile Is Cold) or more contemporary issues (Man Time).
This record is now re-issued in a deluxe edition with previously unreleased acoustic versions. These six new tracks render Pollyanna’s intense musical work on stage after two years of touring and over 100 shows. The recordings are very close to her live performances: one guitar, one voice, with just a little cello here and there, all recorded in one-takes, no editing… 100% organic!
