The latest track from London/Oxford outfit PETSEMATARY. Following the success of their label debut, Get Away With It, they return with Heady, a track that Gaby-Elise of the band says 'is about owning your gender and sexuality, but also feeling drained at times when trying to fight for it.'

Discussing the writing process of the track she goes on to say, 'the guitar riff in the intro and verse came first - it was like this repetitive droney sound with loads of delay and reverb that I think embody the 'heady' and dreamlike aspect of the song. This made me think of times when I’ve felt so frustrated about my experiences with sexism that its just made me feel numb and overwhelmed.'

Signing to Beth Shalom Records for their May single, the band received supports from Spotify Editorial, BBC Introducing and Huw Stephens of Radio 1. In comparison to their previous single, Heady shows the middle finger to people who cling to old ideas of patriarchy and gender, and how although there is a struggle for equality, there is a light at the end of it.

Gaby-Elise continued to say, 'It's inspired by transgressive womxn who break norms, by the people around me. It's a reminder to myself that there are people fighting the good fight and that change is happening, and also a reminder to keep fighting for the equality of others. There’s a lot of anger in the song but also a lot of light in it as well.'
