Today classical pianist Paulette Verlée releases her new EP 'So What'. So What is a five-track that drifts between neoclassical piano, ambient textures, and quiet introspection. It's a first for Paulette to move form neoclassical to more ambient sounds. Paulette Verlée explains that she is the most proud of the title track 'So What' which is a collaboration with Pieter Van Dessel from Marble Sounds.

The song 'So What felt' naturally suited for vocals; unlike the others, it carried the weight of a conversation. In Paulette’s mind, it was always a duet. She decided to sing a small part herself but wanted a warm, grounded voice for the lead voice. The choice came easily: Pieter Van Dessel of Marble Sounds. They had crossed paths before, mostly in the film world, where Pieter creates beautiful soundtracks for films and TV. His voice and musicality, everything made sense. Luckily, his answer was just as simple: yes. The result is a fragile yet cinematic song, where delicate piano motifs and ambient textures hold two voices in quiet balance.

The rest of the EP feels like a sequence of small emotional states—intimate, understated, and deeply human. It doesn’t aim for grand gestures, but rather creates space for reflection, leaving room for the listener’s own meaning.

From there, the journey unfolds instrumentally: 'Let’s Go' moves with subtle determination, 'White Noise' offers a suspended moment of stillness, 'Half Way' brings a warm sense of transition, and 'So Far' closes with gentle, open-ended calm.
