Claptone, the mysterious DJ and producer shares a new remix as part of a string of new reworks for his recent single, Wake Up feat. James Vincent McMorrow. Now available to stream and purchase, the celebrated DJ and producer Paul Woolford releases the latest remix for Wake Up, which follows previously released remixes from Riva Starr and Tom & Collins. Wake Up is taken from Claptone’s third studio album Closer, which is set for release on Nov 12th via Different Recordings / PIAS. Closer will feature collaborators and pop icons including Barry Manilow, Seal and many more.

Paul Woolford’s accolades transcend the underground via his Special Request alias across to the mainstream. The Leeds born DJ and producer recently and notably collaborated with Diplo and Kareen Lomax on the 2020 single, Looking For Me, which peaked at number 4 in the UK singles chart. His new remix of Wake Up builds upon the already uplifting original, with Woolford adding his signature and much-loved piano-house production style.

Originally released earlier this month, Wake Up revealed the first details of Claptone’s anticipated forthcoming album. The House and Garage-layered inspired track which features the husky and soulful vocals of Irish Platinum selling singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow, first received remixes from the Italian born DJ, producer and boss of Snatch! Records Riva Starr along with Tom & Collins, who have remixed the likes of Gorgon City and Duke Dumont.

Set for release on November 12th, Closer has been in the making for over three years and showcases a natural development in sound for Claptone. The album has been co-produced by Stuart Price, the three-time Grammy-winning electronic musician, DJ, songwriter, and record producer known for his work with artists such as Madonna, The Killers, Dua Lipa and Pet Shop Boys. The aptly titled album is the next phase of the enigmatic artist’s musical evolution following the 2018 LP, Fantast and the 2015 debut, Charmer.

Closer is about the joy and sometimes the pain of being human. It’s an ode to togetherness as well as empowerment, to heartache as well as bliss. I celebrate emotions. I allow myself to get closer to human beings and be human on the quest for my soul. Charmer was merely an introduction from a mystic being coming out of the shadows. On Fantast, I tried to find my roots in nature, and it was more of an escapist album, whereas Closer embraces people and the universe inside them.”Claptone

Joining Claptone on his mission to embrace people, the album features a host of global collaborators including Barry Manilow, Seal, James Vincent McMorrow and Peter Bjorn and John. Closer balances both iconic names with established artists and exciting new talent as Claptone enlists Mayer Hawthorne, Mansionair, APRE, Dizzy, SPELLES, lau.ra, Two Another and long-time Claptone collaborator, Nathan Nicholson, ex-singer of The Boxer Rebellion.

Claptone – Closer will be released on Nov 12th and is available to pre-save and pre-order here.
