Canadian musician/producer Don Gordon formed the industrial-electro group Numb in 1986 and hasremained its only constant member. His band’s eponymous, emotional assault of a debut album wasreleased in 1988 and saw confusion, anger and alienation taking musical form to ravage the senses.

1990’s ’Christmeister’ took an even more aggressive stance, the group's largely electronic approach augmented by a heavy guitar onslaught, while ’Death On the Installment Plan’ (1993) was described as a "high-intensity blast of near madness", with guitars and synthesizers working in (dis)harmony with tape-loops and heavily distorted vocals. Remixes of songs from this album formed part of the ‘Fixate’ EP in 1994, the same year also seeing the release of ’Wasted Sky’, a post-apocalyptic vision of technology as religion and of truth as virtual reality. This was the first Numb record to be issued by Metropolis Records and it has remained one of the label's most popular releases.

Adding vocalist David Collings to the line-up, the group honed its skills on the road and their powerful live show was documented on the live album ’Koro’, recorded in Japan in 1995. The next studio release, ‘Blood Meridian’ (1997), featured no guitars at all and was an album of pure electronics with attitude, while 1998’s ‘Language Of Silence’ was somewhat quieter and darkly intense, skilfully balancing uncompromising musical harshness with inventive arrangements.

Numb disbanded at the end of that year when Gordon moved from his home city of Vancouver to London and then to Vietnam. After what seemed to be a full retirement of the project and, following some production and remix work for other artists, Gordon’s disappearance from the music scene, an album of brand new material entitled ‘Mortal Geometry’ has been announced for the late summer of 2019. The group’s first new release in over two decades, it shows that Numb’s dark vision of tomorrow remains crystal clear. Known for his singular talent in arrangement and sound design, ‘Mortal Geometry’ has this on full display, incorporating trance elements, ambient interludes and seething EDM into a masterful blend of atmospheric electronic angst.
