Mike Shabb returns today with “Hesitate”, a new single and music video set at a house party, filmed right before the pandemic. This new track is the first single off the Montreal-based rapper’s upcoming album Life is Short, due out July 31st on Make it Rain Records. This song is a classic, catchy, good-vibes summer joint, perfect for a hot summer day or a car ride into the sunset.

Watch and share “Hesitate” via YouTube. The single is available on all music services.

Mike himself produced “Hesitate”, describing its sound as “drill-wave”: a combination of drill-type drums with wavy synth loops. The young artist created the song around his 22nd birthday, reminiscing about the years growing up and the path that led him to where he is today. Mike Shabb is very engaged with his fans and Hesitate's chorus came from one of his freestyles on an Instagram Live session that got great traction from his followers.

His upcoming album Life is Short was recorded during a cottage retreat with producers VNCE CARTER and Danny Ill. This fourth offering from the young rapper follows the release of GLOOM, an EP which attracted the attention of Vice, Voir and Le Devoir when it was released in the spring of 2019. In the past few years, Mike Shabb has been able to stand out as one of the most energetic performers of his generation. Besides getting the honour of being the first artist to ever play the hip-hop festival Metro Metro, Mike Shabb has performed on various stages across Quebec, and shared the stage several times with Dead Obies. He’s also opened for major artists like Playboi Carti and Lil Mosey. The one who embodies the future of Quebec rap, according to Vice, continues to perfect his own sound and develop his songwriting, while working with new talents in order to make Montreal English hip-hop shine, inside and outside of Quebec.
