Formed in 2021, HALFSLEEPER is the duo of HERMIT (Matheus Cornely) and MOON (Vinicius Biz). The project was created to bring together pieces of their shared musical background — industrial textures, darkwave pulse, shoegaze haze and synthpop hooks — while keeping post-punk’s backbone front and centre: programmed drums, pulsing bass, layered synths and modulation-heavy guitars. “Midnight Blue” follows the EP The Hook that Killed the Ocean (2022) and the singles Remembrance Day (2024), There Goes a Shadow and Tortured Souls (2025), and arrives as their most complete statement to date.

Lyrically, the album doesn’t romanticise relationships, it dissects them. Across twelve tracks the band circle themes of isolation, guilt, love, eroticism, dependence and self-destruction, shifting the tempo from slow-burn melancholy to nervous rush. The result feels lived-in and human: songs that carry mood and melody without losing edge. For media context, touchpoints referenced by the band include Drab Majesty, Choir Boy and classic 4AD aesthetics.
