After a careful look into the future and a measured weighing of the artistic current we want to follow as a band, we came to the conclusion that our sense of direction has been growing wider and wider apart. So we mutually decided to part ways with founding member and longtime bass player Selwyn, each to follow our own path. With a portfolio of four wonderful and well received albums and clocking nine years of playing time, our collaboration has come to an end.

Selwyn and Sander started Monomyth in early 2011 sharing a musical vision which they wanted to explore. Looking back now we can say that Monomyth succeeded with that on multiple levels. We are very proud of what we’ve achieved together. Therefore Selwyn’s departure is not something we are happy to share with you. This situation throws us back on ourselves. Monomyth without Selwyn will not be the same. Does this mean we’ve reached the end of our journey? It would make sense if it weren’t for the strong urge we all feel to keep going. Selwyn will do so in his endeavors with Ozma and the rest of us will continue to follow in whatever direction Monomyth is taking us.

Monomyth was, is, and always will be the sum of its parts and with enough common goals we feel that there is way, way more music to be discovered beyond the horizon.

We would like to introduce Jason van den Bergh as our new bass player. We know him from his work with The Howl Ensemble and we have no doubt that Jason will fit in perfectly.

All booked shows will continue as planned
