Injecting some much needed adrenaline to Winter 2020, MIKE CLERK returns with an action packed official video for: “Keep Movin’”. WATCH HERE

Locked in a deadly game of cat and mouse through a remote forest, the Scottish singer embraces his inner Bruce Lee in an explosive new video that involves Ninjas, samurai-sword clashes and the mother of all twists…

The second track to be released from his forthcoming album ‘The Space Between My Ears’, “Keep Movin’” is a propulsive alt.rock record specifically designed to invigorate mind, body and soul in these challenging times. It is now partnered with an official video that is every bit as stimulating.

Having studied Jujitsu, Karate, and various other arts for over 20 years, the “Keep Movin’” video combines Clerk’s lifelong passions for martial arts with the themes of motivation and self determination that course through the track.

“It’s about getting over yourself and moving forward. No matter what happens - ultimately it’s only yourself you’re fighting with over it” says Clerk.

Bringing Alan Borthwick into the frame for a starring role, the Edinburgh-based martial arts instructor offered his expertise on set, while playing a pivotal part in the video’s taut combat sequences. Violent arts expert Jamie Gray also offered professional choreographic advice to give the fight sequences that added realistic punch. Giving the video its cinematic look, special effects make up was provided by Hollie McKenzie assisted by Marta Kowalczyk.

Directed by Sean Defrancesco, with Sil Derkx as Director of Photography, the video was shot in just one day over the summer of 2020, though took months of meticulous planning on top of negotiating the challenging covid restrictions of this year. Reflecting back on the video and the personal challenges he embraced to make it happen, Clerk states:

“I had to look like complete s**t for this video. I was eating salty crisps and drinking loads of water on days up to and on set to get a bloated look on screen. I hope the two days on the couch injured after it with a twisted knee, bruised ribs and raging heartburn was worth it”.

Perhaps best known as the frontman of The Lost Generation, during his time with the band Clerk notably played shows including Alan McGee's Death Disco and Club NME in London, had a close-call with guitar duties for Primal Scream, and made appearances as far afield as Europe and the US. Splitting from the band for the “sake of my own sanity”, Clerk returned to music in 2020 finding a devoted fanbase still intact and eager to hear him making music again.

Buoyed by an incredible reaction to a GoFundMe page Clerk set up speculatively to gauge interest amongst fans for a new solo record, the Fife songwriter hasn’t looked back. Going from strength to strength ever since, Clerk released “Thoughts of Fools” in August, an exhilarating first single that has established him as a hot tip moving into 2021. On the back of the track, Clerk was also able to pull-off an exclusive publishing deal with Wardlaw Music (Massive Attack, Pulp, U2).

Now carving out a highly promising niche as a solo artist, Clerk leads the charge with two tantalising singles which will appear on a new album ‘The Space Between My Ears’ in 2021. Promising an alternative rock record, which centres around the themes of various personal psychological states of mind and mental health; ‘The Space Between My Ears’ will be a probing exploration into the darker side of the human psyche. Packing a gritty alt/rock punch with lyrics unafraid to get personal, Clerk’s new music is the output of a reformed character hitting new creative heights.

New single “Keep Movin’” is streaming on all platforms now.
