Lian Ray releases new single ‘A Game’ with album release just two weeks away The video for ‘A Game’ was shot on 16mm film and is a loose homage to JL Godard and David Lynch French pop noir songwriter Lian Ray releases new single ‘A Game’ on Snowstar Records today, after already releasing singles ‘Rose’, Mateo’ and ‘Maps’. It’s the final single before his upcoming album ‘Rose’ will see the light on the 13th of March. ‘A Game’ comes with a beautiful cinematic video shot on 16mm film, and is now available everywhere. Upcoming album ‘Rose’ can be pre-ordered in the Snowstar Records webshop. Lian Ray will play a release show in Ekko, Utrecht on the 26th of March, for which tickets are on sale now.
After the disappearance of his muse Rose, Lian found himself heartbroken. While trying to process and grieve his loss, that aching pain quickly turned to anger. Single ‘A Game’ showcases Lian at his darkest: bitter, revengeful.
Here he finds himself plotting destructive ways to get his muse back ("what will it cost / to bring you safely back to the shore?") while echoing some of the album’s recurring masochistic nuances ("Can I play with you / Can I hurt you too?"). For the song, Lian had Berlin creative-duo ‘A Nice Idea Every Day’ (Vivien Weyrauch and Fabian Röttger) write and direct an ambitious visual partner to the upcoming album, as a loose homage to heroes JL Godard and David Lynch, all beautifully shot on 16mm film. ‘A Game’ is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, iTunes and Bandcamp.
The album can be pre-ordered in the Snowstar Records webshop. With each pre-order comes an exclusive unreleased 4-track EP by Lian Ray. Watch the video for ‘A Game’ here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsaR66gYE-s&feature=youtu.be
