Laurel Bloom embodies raw immediacy, childlike curiosity, and a hint of secret eccentricity. Behind this pseudonym is Lucas Zibulski, a young musician known as the drummer for folk-rock band Malummí, as well as for various jazz projects. With Laurel Bloom, he brings his voice into the microphone for the first time, allowing his artistic vision coming to life.
«Riddles Of My Youth» is the second single from Laurel Bloom. Talking about the single, Laurel Bloom says: „I wrote this song at home on my piano in autumn 2023. During that time, I reflected a lot on my childhood and how it shaped me into who I am today. Fragments of memories and the storybook-like perspective of how a child might see the world inspired me to create a mysteriously intriguing text. Riddles Of My Youth flows like a river of rhythm and harmony that gently carries you along. The song radiates warmth with its polyphonic vocal passages and has a lo-fi character. The percussive elements ground the listeners while inviting them to dance.“
Inspired by Andy Shauf and Aldous Harding, Laurel Bloom follows a rich tradition of songwriting. The arrangements are sparse, acoustic, and interpreted with playful care. His debut EP, «Painting The Sunlight In My Room» will be released in January 2025 in collaboration with Irascible Music.
