«Drum Therapy» is seven and a half states of mind that you might have already guessed. An attitude that was already noticeable in Kush K's earlier releases, but was kept hidden. The music could have been completely different, but in hindsight everything seems so logical and consistent.
‘Slow Saturation’ (2018), ‘Lotophagi’ (2020) and ‘Your Humming’ (2022) are followed by ‘«Drum Therapy», a masterpiece of contrasts, soft circles meet hard breaks, the music is more serious but less unambiguous, more stringent and yet more playful. It's about everything, but nobody knows what this is, except perhaps the continuity to nowhere.
Unrehearsed, unafraid. This is «Drum Therapy». Riding the air of a disarming voice, a coat accompanying you through scary times. Encouraging you to keep your eyes open through the good and the bad and the in between. Letting every strum and pick and kick dart holes through your body, you want to listen from the inside. If you’re brave enough, you’ll know. When you know you know.
For several years now, Kush K have been following their very own path in the pop landscape, a pleasantly experimental one. The band has found a place between radio presence and DIY spirit that doesn't require any bending or compromises. Their debut album ‘Lotophagi’ was named album of the year in 2021 by the industry association IndieSuisse. With the follow-up album ‘Your Humming’, they played concerts across Europe and were invited to a KEXP live session. In autumn 2024, they will play songs from their new EP Drum Therapy for the first time. Back to life after a loss; happiness hormones that haven't left you after all, a feeling of absolute fearlessness.
Kush K are Catia Lanfranchi, Paul Amereller, Fiona Fiasco and Jonas Albrecht.
