Johnny Marr’s new double album ‘Fever Dreams Pts 1-4’ is released today via BMG.

‘Fever Dreams Pts 1-4’, which includes the singles ‘Night and Day’, ‘Tenement Time’, ‘Sensory Street’and ‘Spirit, Power and Soul’ is already receiving extensive critical praise. Described as “the most ambitious album of his career” by UNCUT Magazine, “an epic adventure” by MOJO, “terrific” by The Observer, “knockout material” by Rolling Stone UK, “brimming with melody and momentum” by Record Collector, and, "on solo record number four, Johnny Marr has set the dial to 'epic'" by DIY Magazine.

‘Fever Dreams Pts 1-4’ is Marr’s fourth solo album, following The Messenger (2013), Playland (2014), and 2018’s Call The Comet. As its title implies, it is divided into four chapters. All 16 songs ultimately make up a fantastically expansive work - Johnny Marr’s first double album. Running through everything are two key elements: echoes of the wildly diverse music that he has made across his prolific career, and lyrics that are direct, emotional and full of musicality.

Reflecting on the new release, Johnny said: “There’s a set of influences and a very broad sound that I’ve been developing - really since getting out of The Smiths until now, and I hear it in this record. There are so many strands of music in it. We didn’t do that consciously, but I think I’ve got a vocabulary of sound. And I feel very satisfied that I’ve been able to harness it.”

“It’s an inspired record and I couldn’t wait to get in to record every day. I still have that feeling of it being a privilege to make records, I almost feel a duty to bring the guitar, and a guitar attitude, to the fore of what I think is modern music.”

In celebration of the new record, today sees Johnny begin a week long tour of in-store signing appearances at indie record shops across the UK. The seven stop run will see Johnny meet fans at Manchester’s Piccadilly Records today, before visiting London’s Rough Trade East and West, Brighton’s Resident Records, Rough Trade Nottingham, Sheffield’s Bear Tree Records and Leeds’ Jumbo Records from February 28th to March 3rd. To guarantee a place, fans can order the album from their local record store now, full dates and remaining tickets are listed HERE.
