This Valentine’s Day, soulful singer Joesef releases his brand new single, ‘Think That I Don’t Need Your Love’. Alongside the track, the singer also announces his latest tour and not one, but two live sessions from BBC Sound of Maida Vale and 1Xtra.

‘Think That I Don’t Need Your Love’ is about “feeling like myself again after a big period of feeling fucked up and spaced out after a break up,” Joesef explains. “I just woke up one day feeling a bit better and I sort of wrote this tune as a knee jerk reaction to finally feeling normal again.” The lyrics, while tinged with a humour typical of Glaswegians, are delivered with a sensitivity and a jazz-pop style harping back to the raspy authenticity of Amy Winehouse. Though the bubble has burst - I fell head first into the dirt – it could always be worse, Joesef reasons in his distinct, dreamy timbre.

Joesef’s work in the last year culminated in his inclusion of the BBC Sound Poll in January, after sharing his soulful, sultry sounds with singles ‘Don’t Give In’, ‘Loverboy’, ‘Limbo’ and debut EP Play Me Something Nice. The EP navigates feelings of first love and loss or, as Joesef puts it, the breakdown of his first relationship, “and how complicated it became for both of us trying to navigate through life without each other.” The singles and EP were well-received, with support from the likes of Clash, i-D, and Vogue, as well as BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, BBC 1Xtra, and Colors.

Joesef’s live momentum is going from strength to strength, with the announcement of a new tour. This news follows on from his most recent series of shows in cities such as Manchester, Brighton, a sold out London Omeara and concluding 2019 with selling out the 1300 cap venue SWG3 in Glasgow. His next London date will be the sold out Oslo on March 7th. To the relief and excitement of his London fans, Joesef will also be playing Hoxton Hall in Shoreditch on the 5th of May.
