Norwegian folk artist Jarle Skavhellen shares his recent collaboration with notable Irish singer Ciaran Lavery. The two singer-songwriters met while touring together and have stayed friends since, so when Jarle asked Ciaran if he was interested in teaming up to write “Young Like The Morning Dew,” the song was quickly born. Jarle adds, “This track was sort of a spontaneous corona-collaboration. I was stuck inside during the first lockdown, just writing. I sent this idea to Ciaran, and it just naturally evolved into this cool little track.”

Ciaran elaborates, “I met Jarle a few years prior to this at a show in Amsterdam. We subsequently travelled for a short time together, playing shows around Europe & travelling in an elaborate jeep like vehicle. He’s a very cool character, unfazed, yet somewhat mysterious, kinda like the song he sent me, in a way. So when he contacted me with this song I was naturally honoured to play a small part in its creation. It was fun to work on something with someone I’d consider a friend.”

Jarle is currently preparing for his sophomore album, Beech Street, to be released on January 8th, 2021. An avowed fan of Gregory Alan Isakov’s Evening Machines, Jarle sought out Portland, OR producer Tucker Martine [My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists, Neko Case, Sufjan Stevens, R.E.M.] who obliged to take the reins behind the board. Recording in the United States allowed him to organically explore his longstanding influence of Americana music. Jarle got his start in his hometown of Bergen, Norway. Following a string of singles and success on the Spotify Global Viral Chart, he engaged fans worldwide with his 2018 full-length debut, The Ghost In Your Smile. The record garnered praise from Clash, The 405, Thank Folk For That, and more. The new record follows his 2020 EP, Northern Lights.
