Intrascendence drops "Astral Session": Progressive metal from the stars
A live session filmed at the cradle of Southern astrophysics
Chilean prog-metal powerhouse Intrascendence has officially unveiled its latest audiovisual offering: “Astral Session Live at Foster Observatory.” This isn't some bog-standard live set; it’s a high-concept sonic intervention filmed at one of South America’s most legendary astronomical stations. Founded in 1903, the venue has been repurposed from a century-old scientific landmark into a cutting-edge resonator for contemporary metal.
The session captures the band performing alongside the observatory’s historic dome, which still houses its original mechanical engineering. The result is a striking juxtaposition: early 20th-century mechanical grit meets the surgical precision of modern metal, featuring extended-range guitars and massive, immersive textures. The location acts as a narrative engine, bridging the gap between hard science and the expansion of human consciousness.
“To us, art is the expansion of the soul made manifest, and taking our music to such an iconic scientific stage is the ultimate realization of that quest,” explain Felipe Reyes (vocals) and Rodrigo Del Canto (guitars). “We knew only our true, live sound—with all its raw power and atmosphere—could inhabit a space like this to project the transcendent experience we’re now sharing with the world.”
Boasting a minimalist cinematic aesthetic produced by OnStage Productions, the video leans into the band’s technical prowess and "emotional cosmology." With top-tier production and mastering by Franco Gabelo, the audio ensures total fidelity, taking the listener on a journey from the crushing weight of matter to total infinite liberation.
This release cements Intrascendence as one of South America’s most ambitious exports. Following a massive 2025 marked by the critical success of their self-titled debut, the outfit is now gearing up for a career-defining slot at CL Prog 2026—Latin America’s premier progressive music festival—confirming their status as a force to be reckoned with on the global circuit.
