Mother’ is the new single and title track from Norwegian pop sensation Highasakite’s upcoming fifth album, set for release on 28th January. The track masquerades as a slick, laid back RnB but surprises the listener with its devastating chorus, in which vocalist and composer Ingrid Håvik screams “I need to call my mother”, ringing in the album’s main themes of birth and death, the cycle of renewal and destruction. Speaking about the single, Håvik simple states “It is in one’s most desperate situations that one calls one’s mother. When you are not able to stand on your own feet anymore”.

The album, which will see the Norwegian duo headline London’s Islington Academy on 27th April, is a remarkable thing – tender in its emotions yet epic in scope, a powerful synthesis of cool pop, entrancing Berlin techno and cutting-edge Scandi production. It finds the duo at the top of their game and demonstrates why Håvik and drummer Trond Bersu have accumulated over 200 million streams on Spotify to date, earned multiple Norwegian Grammy Awards (Spellemannprisen), retained their top spot on numerous Nordic charts and widespread acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork, NME, MOJO, The Guardian, Vogue and Triple J.
