Hayden Thorpe will release his second solo album Moondust For My Diamond this Friday via Domino. Ahead of its release, he is pleased to share “Golden Ratio”, a joyful and expansive cut from the upcoming record. The technicolour production on “Golden Ratio” and Moondust For My Diamond brings Hayden together for the first time with cult innovator Nathan Jenkins (Bullion) as well as long-time collaborator Richard Formby.

Thorpe talks about the new song: “When I was writing Golden Ratio, I landed upon it as a kind of simple devotional song to science. I see music very much as a replication of nature, the shapes and patterns that we perceive in music are found in all kinds of things like flowers and shells. Science and mathematics have allowed us to decipher this hidden order. Writing songs therefore becomes less about summoning from within and more about noticing what’s already there.”

The video, directed by Juliet Klottrup and part of the series of work filmed in The Lake District, sees Thorpe send a red balloon on a mysterious quest as over hushed saxophone and pared back percussion, he sings: “Now that I see, I want answers, Now I wanna heal, Tomorrow’s history, Yesterday rewrites.”

Additionally, Hayden Thorpe has announced a full UK & European tour for 2022 including London’s Scala. His show at London’s Chat Palace this Friday is sold out.

Moondust For My Diamond will be available digitally, on CD, standard LP, Deluxe LP plus DomMart Edition LP. The Deluxe LP edition will include limited and signed handmade screen prints by Hayden, whilst the DomMart edition LP bundle includes the Aerial Songs EP 12". Pre-order here: Digital | LP | DomMart

In a concerted effort to address the climate crisis, the vinyl and packaging for the Moondust For My Diamond LPs will be made using 100% recycled materials.
