High Hi's "Borders" video is the outcome of a series of AI-generated transitions between over 150 faces that were produced by the same tool. Not only do these faces look as if they were drawn by a skilled illustrator, but the in-between frames also blend naturally. How is this achieved? Antwerp-based visual arts studio Lion Beach used Joel Simon's clever Artbreeder (formerly known as GANbreeder) engine to produce over 5000 frames to use in their Octane 3D render setup.

A futuristic albeit retro context with an early 00's Compaq displaying these faces conveys an uncanny vibe that progresses along with the climactic post-pop track into a slush of different faces. This is the second track from High Hi`s upcoming sophomore record "Firepool", scheduled to release March 13th 2020, produced by Daan Schepers (Eefje de Visser, Bazart, Warhola).
