Hannah Wants reveals her next single on Defected Records ‘Hold Me’ featuring singer-songwriter and close friend ARA, releasing on 7th February, with a special acoustic version to follow later this month.
With a catalog of solid releases on the London label steadily stacking up, including Hannah’s previous collaboration with ARA ‘The One,’ ‘Cure My Desire’ featuring Clementine Douglas, ‘Hard To Breathe’ featuring Hannah Boleyn, and ‘Calling’ featuring Jem Cooke, Hannah continues to demonstrate her natural affinity for collaborating with vocalists and actively participating in the songwriting process.
Described by Hannah as her “favourite record to date,” the production and lyrics of ‘Hold Me’ come together to create a cathartic release for the DJ, showcasing the sound of an artist who advocates fiercely for music with meaning. Written in December 2023, at a time when Hannah was “unaware that this very song would become my own truth and a part of my own storyline,” the release of ‘Hold Me’ resonates more than ever with Hannah following a recent breakup of the relationship she was in at the time of writing. Intertwined with her breakup, Hannah also publicly revealed a cancer re-diagnosis, which only further placed more personal meaning onto this divinely timed, memorable, and heartfelt song.
In a recent Instagram post, Hannah explains, “'Cure My Desire' was born out of heartbreak in 2020 and played a huge part in my healing; I know releasing ‘Hold Me’ is going to play a similar role.”
With Hannah receiving an influx of messages since teasing ‘Hold Me’ over the last year, the record's message will resonate with her global audience. With evocative themes of love, loss, and resilience bolstered by ARA’s spellbinding vocal layers, this aptly timed release illustrates Hannah’s evolution as an artist and songwriter.
